The oldest of seven children Pastor Eugene Johnson Jr., a native of Port Arthur, Texas was born on October 2, 1959. At the age of 12 Discerning God’s call to the ministry, he responded in faith. Pastor Johnson obtained his primary and secondary education with the public schools of Port Arthur, Texas. From 1978 until 1982, he served our wonderful country in the U.S. Navy. During his time in the military, he met his wife Demetria, and describes her as “Whose radiance cast a shadow, even upon the sun.” They have been married for over 25 years, and have bare in a flourished marital relationship that is built upon their love for each other, Jesus Christ, and the principals of God’s word. They have three beautiful children, two girls Tiffany and Brittany, one son Jamal. He was ordained as a minister on June 6, 1999 at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Denison, Texas. Currently, he is a 34 year tenure employee of the United States Postal Service and serves as chaplain for Union Branch 132.
On October 2, 2005 Pastor Johnson founded Marvellous Light Community Church in Dallas, Texas where he serves as senior pastor and has 3 associate ministers. Presently, under his excellent leadership, Marvellous Light Community Church is experiencing a holistic ministry that is spirit-filled. Ministries have been established under his guidance such as Take it to the Street witnessing in the community, Men of Promise, Women’s ministry, and Food Pantry.
He completed four years of Biblical studies at Southern Bible Institute, receiving a diploma in basic Bible studies on May 2, 2010. He continues to put emphasis on the need for spiritual growth and development through the teaching of God’s Word, Bible Study and Sunday School. Pastor Johnson continually strives for improvement because it is necessary for the advancement of the church.
